You will need sudo rights. It\u2019s not necessary to use root.<\/p>\n<p>First steps: update and upgrade of system and reqired packages:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt-get update\r\nsudo apt-get upgrade -y<\/pre>\n<p>The following packages are mandatory to properly build CGMiner:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>build-essential<\/em>: Compiler and Compile-Werkzeuge<\/li>\n<li><em>git<\/em>: source code repository<\/li>\n<li><em>autoconf<\/em>: Used to build from GIT.<\/li>\n<li><em>automake<\/em>: Used to build from GIT.<\/li>\n<li><em>libtool<\/em>: provides shared library access for CGMiner<\/li>\n<li><em>pkg-config<\/em>: Used for build and compile<\/li>\n<li><em>libcurl4-openssl-dev<\/em>: http connectivity for CGMiner<\/li>\n<li><em>libudev-dev<\/em>: USB support for CGMiner<\/li>\n<li><em>libusb-1.0-0-dev<\/em>: USB support for CGMiner<\/li>\n<li><em>libncurses5-dev<\/em>: text based user interface for CGMiner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre>sudo apt-get install -y build-essential git autoconf automake libtool pkg-config libcurl4-openssl-dev libudev-dev libusb-1.0-0-dev libncurses5-dev<\/pre>\n<p>Now you can clone the GekkoScience CGMiner branch from GIT:<\/p>\n<pre>mkdir -p mining\/newpac; cd mining\/newpac\r\ngit clone https:\/\/github.com\/vthoang\/cgminer.git\r\ncd cgminer<\/pre>\n<p>After successful cloning you can start to build CGMiner:<\/p>\n<pre>CFLAGS=\"-O2\" .\/autogen.sh --enable-gekko\r\nmake -j 2<\/pre>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The build command for Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (or higher) is slightly different:<\/p>\n<pre>CFLAGS=\"-O2 -march=native\" .\/autogen.sh --enable-gekko\r\nmake -j 2<\/pre>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Explanation notes: The build parameter <strong>\u2013enable-gekko<\/strong> activates the GekkoScience drivers both for Compac (single ASIC) and 2Pac (dual ASIC).<\/p>\n<p>Now test the newly built binary:<\/p>\n<pre>.\/cgminer -n<\/pre>\n<p>This command returns a list of detected miners. You should see sth. like \u201cNewPac Bitcoin Miner\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3>Accessories<\/h3>\n<p>This USB Stick Miner requires a actively powered USB Hub which can independently provide 2 A for each USB port We have achieved good results with several USB 2.0 Hubs from Anker or Orico. We highly recommend the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitshopper.de\/en\/shop\/gekkoscience-en\/7-port-usb-hub\/\">GekkoScience 7-Port USB Hub<\/a> which was specifically designed for the operation with USB stick miners. Users reported several compatibility issues with USB 3.0 Hubs with Intel chipsets. We achieved best results with dem <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.de\/dp\/B003XN24GY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arctic Breeze Mobile 92 mm<\/a> (quiet, performant, high-quality).<\/p>\n<h3>Setup<\/h3>\n<p>The following command will start up the CGMiner Software (example):<\/p>\n<pre>cd ~\/mining\/newpac\/cgminer\r\n.\/cgminer -o stratum+tcp:\/\/pool.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr -p x --suggest-diff 32 --gekko-newpac-freq 150<\/pre>\n<p>The Pool configuration which is used in the example above should be replaced by your own pool configuration data. Please contact your pool operator or check the pool setup guide for more details. The example above shows a Solo-Mining configuration in Con Kolivas\u2019 Solo Mining pool.<\/p>\n<p>The Clock Rate can be set with the following commandline parameter: gekko-newpac-freq.
