Cup heater with built-in (up to) 700 GH/s miner – fanless and temperature controlled
Introducing “Mein Coffee,” the ultimate cup heater with an integrated Bitcoin miner up to 700 GH/s.
No more cold coffee thanks to our new, innovative coffee warmer with a built-in 200-600 GH/s (solo) miner. Our Swiss friends from dezentralshop.ch gave us the idea at the Swiss Bitcoin Conference: What to do with all the waste heat from these small miners—and why do we even need those ugly fans?
A beautiful product for your desk. After just over nine months, it’s finally arriving: the unbeatably quiet, temperature-controlled standalone miner for your coffee cup. Carefully crafted for the modern tech enthusiast. This compact marvel, measuring 105 mm x 105 mm x 42 mm, is more than just a cup warmer; it’s a blend of elegance, innovation, functionality, and value.
Features
- High-quality materials: The bottom half is made of sustainably sourced and dried walnut wood and feels natural and warm, while the top is made of smooth aluminum and provides your coffee cup with a stylish and durable finish.
- Efficient heating: The aluminum lid uses the waste heat from Bitcoin mining to keep your coffee at a perfect 55 degrees Celsius, keeping your drink warm without excessive energy consumption.
- Built-in Bitcoin Miner: Harness the power of Bitcoin mining with the built-in miner, which offers an impressive hash rate of around 700 GH/s while utilizing efficient power consumption of just 23W via USB-C. Mine Bitcoin while enjoying your coffee. Powered by Bitmain’s BM1398 chips.
- Advanced Connectivity: Equipped with integrated Wi-Fi, a web interface, and a configuration hotspot for easy setup and monitoring. Built-in NanoPi with open-source Linux OS (Debian), meaning you can install a Bitcoin node, Lightning, and/or other services if you want.
- OLED display and LED lights: The 0.91-inch OLED screen on the front provides real-time updates and information, while the subtle LED lights underneath add a touch of elegance and atmosphere to your workspace.
- Customizable LEDs: Personalize your coffee warmer with controllable LEDs, allowing you to adjust the device’s glow to match your mood or decor.
- Dual-function buttons: Two buttons on the front allow easy adjustment of functions and screen display, ensuring a user-friendly experience.
Note on hashrate
During the development process of Mein Coffee, we quickly realized that achieving the perfect balance between hashrate and temperature management is both an art and a science.
Mein Coffee operates on the principle of “target temperature” rather than “target hashrate.” This means the device focuses on maintaining a constant temperature and dynamically adjusts the hashrate to prevent overheating. Our self-adapting algorithm ensures that the hashrate remains as high as possible without the temperature getting out of control.
Through extensive testing, we’ve developed a system for quantifying heat absorption efficiency, which we call the “hash value.” This metric represents the average hash rate over a 3-hour benchmark while maintaining a target temperature of (for example) 55°C. The results show how different objects interact with the heating plate:
Empty hotplate: With no contents, the device achieves a hash rate of approximately 60 GH/s at a set target temperature of 25°C, as the ASICs operate at very low clock speeds to maintain a stable temperature despite limited heat dissipation. At a target temperature of 55°C, the hash rate increases to approximately 200 GH/s.
Enameled stainless steel coffee mug (full of coffee): The heat absorption properties of a full coffee mug allow the hotplate to operate at approximately 330 to 400 GH/s while maintaining the same target temperature of 55°C. Different mugs/cups have different hash values. Ceramic mugs are not particularly suitable because of the insulating properties of ceramic.
Large teapot with stainless steel bottom: By quickly dissipating heat from the surface, this configuration increases the hash rate to an impressive 600-700 GH/s at a target temperature of 55°C.
These tests underscore an important principle: The faster you can dissipate heat from the stovetop, the higher the achievable hashrate. Or in other words: The bigger the cup of coffee or tea in the morning, the higher the reward. Stack Sats for Coffee—or vice versa.
Mein Coffee makes it easy to combine functionality with performance—keep your coffee warm, melt a scented candle, or optimize mining with additional cooling solutions. Whether you’re a casual user or a hashrate enthusiast, this innovative device turns everyday heat into Bitcoin rewards.
